Use case 18 · Archiving
Pages disappear. Plain text does not.
Links rot. Sites redesign, paywall, or vanish. The text you relied on — a reference article, a policy page, your own published work — deserves a copy you own, in a format that will open in fifty years. That format is plain text.

Today
- Bookmarks that lead to 404s and redesigns.
- Screenshots and PDFs that cannot be searched or diffed.
- Your own guest posts living only on someone else’s site.
With output.md
- Clean .md files with the source URL and date recorded.
- A folder that works in git, Obsidian, Notion or a plain file system.
- Text you can search, quote and diff decades from now.
Step by step
How it works, in 4 steps.
-
01
Save what matters
You do
Paste the URL of a page you want to keep — or a list of them in bulk mode.
You get
The article as clean Markdown, with the original link kept.
-
02
Check the copy
You do
Open it in the editor and confirm everything important made it. Add a note with the date and why you saved it.
You get
A record you will understand when you open it in five years.
TipAdd a one-line “why I saved this” at the top. Future you will be grateful.
-
03
Organise
You do
Group by project: “References – thesis”, “Own articles”, “Regulatory pages 2026”.
You get
An archive with a structure, not a heap.
-
04
Take it home
You do
Download individual .md files or the whole project as a ZIP. Commit to a repository or drop into your notes app.
You get
A copy that does not depend on any service — including ours.
Why it works
What you get out of it.
Future-proof format
Markdown is plain text. Any editor, on any device, in any decade, opens it.
Searchable and diffable
Unlike screenshots or PDFs, text can be grepped, compared and version-controlled.
You own the copy
Download it and the archive is yours. No export lock-in, no subscription required to keep reading.
What it costs
1 markdown credit per page saved.
The free account archives 10 pages. Heavy archivers: the Studio pack saves 100 pages for less than a euro each.
Packs are one-time top-ups — no subscription. See all packs.
Questions
Before you start.
Are images archived?
No — output.md keeps the text and structure, not the media. For a visual snapshot, pair it with a service like the Wayback Machine; for the words, Markdown is the durable choice.
Do you keep my archive if I stop paying?
Your projects stay in your account. But the point of archiving is independence: download the ZIP and the files are yours regardless.
Can I archive a page as it changes over time?
Convert it again into the same project whenever you want a new snapshot; each version is its own file with its own date.
Try it on your own material.
Paste a link or upload a file, and see the Markdown before you decide anything else.
