Use case 19 · Study & research notes
Papers, lectures and spreadsheets in one collection you can question.
A semester is forty PDFs, a playlist of recorded lectures and a few spreadsheets of data. output.md turns all of it into Markdown in one collection — so you can ask “what did the second paper say about sample size?” instead of opening eleven tabs to find out.
Free account, 10 markdown + 10 AI credits included. No credit card needed.
Today
- Papers as PDFs you can highlight but not search across.
- Lectures you would have to re-watch to find one point.
- Notes in three apps and a notebook.
With output.md
- Every paper and lecture as text in one collection.
- Grounded answers with the passage they come from.
- A generated study guide or literature summary to revise from.
Step by step
How it works, in 5 steps.
-
01
Upload the reading list
You do
Drop the PDFs of the papers and chapters into a project per course or topic.
You get
Clean text with headings, minus the two-column layout and page numbers.
-
02
Add the lectures
You do
Paste the YouTube links of recorded lectures or talks.
You get
Transcripts you can read in ten minutes instead of watching for ninety.
-
03
Bring in the data
You do
Upload Excel datasets or result tables.
You get
Markdown tables that sit next to the papers that discuss them.
TipOne project per course keeps the collection focused and the answers precise.
-
04
Ask the collection
You do
Collect everything and use Knowledge chat: “Compare the methods in papers 2 and 5”, “What does the lecture say about confounders?”
You get
Answers grounded in your own sources, not the internet.
-
05
Generate a study guide
You do
Generate one article from the collection: “Revision guide, key concepts, definitions, one paragraph per paper.”
You get
A structured summary to revise from — with the full texts one click away.
Why it works
What you get out of it.
Read across, not one by one
Questions span the whole collection, so connections between sources appear on their own.
Grounded, not generic
Knowledge chat answers from what you uploaded, and says so when the material does not cover a question.
Yours after the course
Export the ZIP and your notes, papers and guides stay with you as plain files.
What it costs
1 markdown credit per paper, lecture or sheet; 1 AI credit per question.
A course of 20 papers and 10 lectures is 30 markdown credits — the Workspace pack — plus AI credits for questions and a study guide.
Packs are one-time top-ups — no subscription. See all packs.
Questions
Before you start.
Do citations and references survive the conversion?
Reference lists convert as text, and in-text citations stay where they were. Footnote numbering from PDFs may need a light tidy in the editor.
Is this allowed for copyrighted papers?
Converting material you have legitimate access to, for your own study, is personal use. Do not share or republish the converted texts.
Can I ask questions in another language than the papers?
Yes. Ask in the language you prefer; answers are grounded in the documents regardless of their language.
Try it on your own material.
Paste a link or upload a file, and see the Markdown before you decide anything else.
